How to Decide Which Log Cabin is Right for You?
Choosing a Log Cabin
You’ve always wanted a log cabin, and now you’re ready to buy one. You’ve been browsing and dreaming, but you haven’t solidified what kind of log cabin you’d like to own.
So how do you choose the best log cabin for you?
It’s all about knowing what is most important to you. Understanding what you value most in a cabin is the first step to choosing the ideal log cabin. Here are a few things to consider that will hopefully help you narrow down what it is you really want in a log cabin.
What is your intended use of the log cabin?
Do you plan to make the cabin your primary residence? Or will it be your getaway? Perhaps you plan to add it to your property as a haven for friends and family when they come to visit.
If it’s going to be your permanent home, how many bedrooms will you need? We offer a three-bedroom, two-bathroom log cabin with over 1,500 square feet of space. But that represents the top of the size spectrum. At the other end, we offer a little log cabin that’s just over 200 square feet.
Figure out what you’d like to do with the cabin. Think long-term. Do you plan to use it in the same manner today as you would in five or more years? While you don’t have a crystal ball to predict the future, it’s always a good idea to take your best guess at what the future holds for you and plan accordingly.
For example, if you plan to retire in the next 10 years, then perhaps this cabin will become your new primary residence. You can sell your house and move to the cabin, effectively eliminating a mortgage and some of your upkeep expenses. Or if you have an aging parent, then perhaps the cabin is a good guest house addition for now that will later become a home to keep your parent close and safe.
Leland’s Cabins offers versatile cabins that can be customized to suit your needs. So think about those needs, both now and in the future.
Where are you going to put the cabin?
This is an important question. Have you purchased property for the cabin? Do you have enough property already to add the cabin to your current lot? Do you live inside city limits where there may be zoning requirements for adding a second shelter on the property?
Knowing the answers to these questions will help you determine the size of the cabin that will work best for you. If you’re limited on space, then take a look at Leland’s smaller cabins such as The Stag, Rio Bravo, and Chisholm Trail.
And if you have nothing but wide open spaces, then the sky’s the limit. The Lodge and Settlement Harbor are two of our favorite cabins at Leland’s. There are so many extra touches to these larger log cabins that make them especially beautiful.
Of course, all of this leads to the next important question.
What’s your budget?
How much do you have set aside to spend on the cabin of your dreams? The answer to that question may narrow your choices significantly. At Leland’s Cabins, we offer a wide range of cabins to fit almost any budget.
More importantly, we offer a great value on our cabins. Each cabin is built with reliable materials and quality craftsmanship. While we’re positive you can find cabins for less than Leland’s, we’re just as certain that you won’t find anything in a lower price range that has the same focus on longevity as our cabins do.
Leland’s Cabins are built to endure. We believe in making fine, handcrafted quality cabins that will last you for decades to come. With many of the chain-store versions of cabins, you’ll find it’s cheaper to demolish the cabin and reorder the same model than it is to repair as it ages. Not so with Leland’s. We’ll help you keep your costs low over time.
What do you most value in a log cabin?
Maybe it isn’t something you can name like three bedrooms or two bathrooms or a rustic interior. Maybe instead what you’re after is a feeling. You want to walk into your cabin and feel at ease, leaving your troubles outside on the porch to blow away with the night wind. Maybe you want to feel inspired when you are in your cabin, creating the things that make you happiest.
Whatever it is that you value most in your log cabin, Leland’s cabin specialists are ready to help you on your journey to choosing the exact right cabin for you. Every cabin is customizable. This means that even if we don’t have exactly what you want, we can customize a cabin to make it what you need. We will walk you through the process and show you what it would look like before you ever spend a penny. If you have size restrictions because of the land upon which you plan to place your cabin, we can work with that as well.
Once we have the layout, then we’ll talk about custom options such as cabinets, flooring, wall finishes, and more. We want you to have the cabin that matches the one you’ve been dreaming of.
