Family Cabins are the Perfect Investment for Your Growing Brood
One secret about becoming a new parent that nobody tells you is how much stuff comes along with that tiny bundle of joy. Baby may enter the world with few possessions—other than an impressive set of lungs and a disarming ability to melt your heart—but it only takes a few hours for the items to pile up.
Bassinets, cribs, bouncy seats, high chairs, diaper pails, the list is endless. And the essentials and accessories grow almost as fast as Baby. Before you know it, another one joins the first, and you’ve got to invest in bunk beds or a bigger place.
At Leland’s Cabins, we understand the need for space. Not just for those kids, but for you as well. And that’s why we offer a range of cabin sizes, styles, and price points to meet the needs of your growing family. So whether you are buying one of Leland’s custom-cabin homes as your regular residence or as a vacation getaway, we can help you find the right fit and the right family cabin for you.
Going Easy on the Wallet
The first place to start any home-purchase decision is with a hard look at your finances. Are you ready to take on a 15-year or 30-year mortgage? What about a down payment? Most financial institutions want you to pay 20 percent upfront for a home purchase. So if you’re looking at a $300,000 house, that’s a $60,000 down payment. And you’ll be paying on it until Baby is out of college and the grandkids are coming over!
But if you are considering Texas cabin homes, you can step out from under that scenario of crushing mortgage debt. Buying a Leland’s Cabins home can save you money on the total cost of a home purchase. And it can possibly eliminate your monthly payments altogether.
Consider one of our mid-range cabins, the 704-square-foot Settlement Harbor. With two bedrooms and two bathrooms, everyone has their space while still being together. The open floor plan and high, 12-foot ceilings provide an airy feel to the common living areas like the living room and kitchen. A designated spot just for your dining table makes sure there are opportunities for sit-down meals together. And a second-floor loft space can be used for storage, a secret hideaway for the kids to play in, or a place for guests to sleep on a futon.
Best of all, the Settlement Harbor’s floor plan puts the master suite on one side of the cabin and the second bedroom and bath on the other. Many customers find this arrangement to be a wonderful means for preserving family peace and tranquility.
Another appealing aspect of the Settlement Harbor is its price. At just under $85,000, this cabin offers space and style at a fraction of the cost of a traditional home and mortgage. Making Lasting Memories
Leland’s Cabins log homes are built by trained craftsmen and meant to endure. They’re imported from Texas and made with pride. Over the years, our customers have purchased our cabin homes to serve as primary residences, second homes, business offices, or as vacation getaways. We heartily endorse all these options.
But for a growing family, a Leland’s cabin makes the ultimate vacation retreat.
Just imagine the sound of water rushing over rocks in a nearby stream, birds flying overhead in wide open blue skies, and the breeze blowing through lush green trees all around. At night, the lullaby of crickets soothes you to sleep under the stars. And your family is all together to share in it.
A cabin nestled in the woods can be the stuff of dreams. And Leland’s Cabins can make those dreams a reality. We keep it easy and simple—taking fewer than eight weeks to construct your cabin once the design decisions are finalized. We want you to be able to start making memories with your kids as soon as possible, with days spent fishing on nearby streams or playing outdoors among the trees.
When you go with Leland’s, there’s no do-it-yourself cabin building from a kit. We take care of you from the very first design stages when you select the floor plan, through the many decision points for finishes and special features, all the way to the big moment when your finished log cabin is brought to your site and put in place—what we call Delivery Day.
We get about as excited as you and your family might when that day comes! Because we know from that moment forward, a Leland’s Cabins home is a focal point of your life. We take great pride in knowing we play a part in that.
Growing with You
As your kids grow and your life changes, your space needs often change too. And Leland’s can grow with you. One customer we’ve stayed in touch with over the years is Deja Ramirez, who purchased her first log-cabin home 10 years ago when she was looking for a place her young family could call their own. Affordability was tops in Deja’s mind, and she was drawn to the idea of owning a log-cabin home—without having to worry about rent or the expenses that come with a more traditional home purchase.
After 10 years with the single cabin, Deja decided to come back to Leland’s and purchase a second one to place on her property right beside the first. The new cabin gives her additional living space to accommodate her bigger kids, as well as provides a little room for Deja to stretch out too.
Our one-bedroom, one-bathroom Smokey Bear is a good example of a log cabin that can provide added space for a growing family. At just under 600 square feet, it could be a hang-out zone for teenagers or a relaxing retreat for guests who pay a visit.
However, if you’d rather move into a log cabin that provides plenty of room for you to grow into, consider our top-of-the-line The Ponderosa, a three-bedroom beauty that features nearly 1,300 square feet. With an 11-foot vaulted ceiling and two full bathrooms, you won’t be tripping over each other. A full kitchen and open, airy living area provide roomy shared spaces, and the bedrooms allow for everyone to have a personal getaway spot.
Or you could consider the largest of our nine cabins, The Lodge, which offers 1,500 square feet of living space. It rivals the size of a traditional home while still featuring the charm of a rustic log cabin. The three bedrooms are roomy, and each features a ceiling fan. But the master suite has to be seen to be believed. With tray ceilings and two separate walk-in closets, it’s a dreamy space. And topping it off is the cedar soaker tub in the master bath, which gives you the feel of a relaxing spa retreat every time you step inside.
The price of The Lodge runs $189,324, and The Ponderosa is $138,963. While their costs are higher than their smaller siblings, these family cabins are worth every penny when you consider the money you would be saving on hotels spent elsewhere. This way, you luxuriate in your own special space, forming memories to last a lifetime.
